The K2 Episode 14 Recap

Kim Je Ha is hurt and in critical condition after his chase for the memory card. The chase starts off with Kim Je Ha chasing Kim Suk Han, but with Park Kwan Soo’s men showing up, the chase ends up in a multi-level carpark, Kim Suk Han backed up against the safety barriers at the carpark perimeter and slipping on the round railing. It sees Kim Suk Han begin to fall to his death. Fortunately for the psychiatrist, Kim Je Ha makes it to him just in time to save him.

Pushing Park Kwan Soo’s men out of the way, Kim Je Ha throws himself over the safety barriers, to catch Kim Suk Han’s hand with his right hand, whilst the left gripped onto the safety barrier above. With an amazing strength, Kim Je Ha begins swinging Kim Suk Han before flinging into the level below, saving the psychiatrist. (Kim Je Ha sure is strong! It’s like he has bionic arms! : oO : oO)

In doing so, Kim Je Ha finds himself in possession of the memory card. It seems the hand which Kim Je Ha had grabbed onto was the exact one which held the memory card and it had transferred from Kim Suk Han’s hand to Kim Je Ha’s during that powerful swing of Kim Je Ha’s.

With the memory card in Kim Je Ha’s hands, Park Kwan Soo’s Main Man was now staring down at Kim Je Ha wanting him to hand it over, with no intention of helping or allowing Kim Je Ha to get up from his precarious position before that demand is met. It goes without saying, Kim Je Ha was not going to comply.

Searching his surroundings, he spots a passing truck carrying soft-looking bags. It was the perfect landing pad. Letting go of the railing, Kim Je Ha descends and hit the target. He goes as far as crossing the road before one the flying bullets from Park Kwan Soo’s men hits him in the side

Kim Je Ha doesn’t go down immediately. He still manages to bury and hide the memory card in the soil by a fence before getting rescued by Chief Joo and his driver who shows up to take Kim Je Ha in their car. However, once in the car, he becomes slowly drifts off to unconsciousness.

His unconscious state sees Choi Yoo Jin extremely distraught when he is brought to JSS Headquarters. We like to think it’s because she really is actually very worried about his condition, but to the female doctor she tells to save Kim Je Ha, she says he can’t die because the fate of their company rests on Kim Je Ha being alive.

He’s immediately brought to Cloud Nine for an operation to remove the bullet in him, which sends Kim Je Ha almost to cardiac arrest right after extracting said bullet. The doctors fought hard, though. Chest compressions and multiple shocks of the defibrillator bring him back, but Kim Je Ha remains in critical condition.

Whilst Kim Je Ha hangs between life and death, Choi Yoo Jin is presented with another worrisome matter. The Chief of Police pays a visit to the JSS Headquarters demanding to search and seize her company’s main server.

With media reports pinning Kim Suk Han’s attack on Kim Je Ha and JSS, Park Kwan Soo’s gone and used this opportunity to try incriminate the private security company. The way he‘s gone about doing this is having his ally, the Chief of Police, locate the main server, obtain all its secret data and put an end to Cloud Nine by deleting all the secret data off the server.

The JSS President, who meets with the Chief of Police, doesn’t put up a fight against the search warrant. For one, it’s a legal document authorising the Chief of Police to search. Secondly, the floor the Chief of Police wants and gets access to is the ninth floor, which is not where Cloud Nine is. The main server which his technicians locates and takes into their possession also isn’t the one with all the secret information. It only stores general employees’ information.

Still, it had Choi Yoo Jin worried enough to double-check with Mirror that the classified information is safe.

Thinking the mission a success, the Chief of Police reports back exactly that to Park Kwan Soo. And it travels to Jin Han Group and its Board Members, too. Cloud Nine is declared by them to be over. However, the Chairman is cautious enough to note celebrations might be premature when he’s congratulated for obtaining JB Group. They still need to get their hands on that secret information from the main servers, which he has plans to get his own technicians in to get. Though it looked like Jin Han Group chairman was working with Park Kwan Soo, he informs the Board the classified information won’t be handed over to Park Kwan Soo.

The claim of success and plans are short-lived. Waking from his fall, Kim Suk Ha tells his guard to spread the word about Kim Je Ha being his saviour and that no one is to go after him. This results in the Blue House sending an order down to the Chief of Police (who was still going through JSS’ main server at the time) to stop searching and pull out. The only reason for such an order is Kim Suk Han no longer has the memory card and it’s gone to Choi Yoo Jin.

Choi Yoo Jin is as surprised as they are. She‘s yet to learn that Kim Je Ha actually has his hand on the memory card, and she isn’t able to find out with him being incapacitated. Still, it doesn’t stop her from making her enemies believe they have. All the while, she will use this time to have her people look for the card.

Whilst Chief Joo takes his people back to the area they picked up Kim Je Ha after being shot, Jang Se Joon shows up to tell Chief Joo to give the memory card to him when he finds it. Apparently, Kim Je Ha went after this memory card for Jang Se Joon so that he (and Ko Anna) can escape the clutches of Choi Yoo Jin. He tells him that if the memory card goes to Choi Yoo Jin, he’d be a puppet president.

Chief Joo has always been more on Choi Yoo Jin’s side than Jang Se Joon’s, so he neither agrees or disagrees with the request.

It turns out the plan to steal the memory card really was not so Kim Je Ha could give it to Choi Yoo Jin, but to protect himself and Ko Anna against Choi Yoo Jin. Recovering from his injuries, he reveals it’s the new form of security for his safety as well as Ko Anna’s and not to protect Choi Yoo Jin. Inside is information that will destroy JB Group as Choi Sung Won is the person most deeply involved in the fraud. So, if she wants JB Group to survive, which she does appear to want, she probably shouldn’t do anything which forces Kim Je Ha to use that information against her.

Tears had streamed down Kim Je Ha’s eyes when he learned that, whilst he was asleep, Choi Yoo Jin had gone and convinced Ko Anna to leave as Choi Yoo Jin wants, to leave Kim Je Ha immediately, otherwise something might just happen to Jang Mi Ran, J1 and the housekeeper. Choi Yoo Jin had also made Ko Anna appear a liability to Kim Je Ha’s safety and freedom, saying that unless she leaves him immediately, Kim Je Ha will never be able to leave her. She seems to suggest that if Ko Anna leaves after Kim Je Ha is all better, he will try go wherever she is which isn’t possible even more with him being accused of attempting to murder the president’s son. With all this weighing on her mind, Ko Anna is convinced to leave straight away.

All of this, recorded by Mirror and played back for him to see when he commanded it be played.

“But you are my friend aren’t you?” Choi Yoo Jin had asked Kim Je Ha. He can’t, not with someone like her. He doubts she’s ever cried out of pity for someone else suggesting she lacked sympathy and moral compass when it came to maintaining her place in the world. In order to get what she wants, he states that she is capable of killing, just like the time she ordered one of her men to kill the old couple at the orchard for hiding him in Episode 2; just like her threatening to kill Jang Mi Ran, J1 and the housekeeper if Ko Anna didn’t leave immediately. He mentions Raniya and Ume Hye Rin, too, and lumps her together with those who killed them to keep their place. This is why he can’t be friends with her. In his eyes, she is no different to them.

Kim Je Ha accuses her of just wanting someone to worship her or someone who she can worship. She struggles to say exactly what she wants from him (she appears to not know), but she does deny wanting him to worship her. Kim Je Ha keeps at it, telling her exactly what she wants and that’s to coddle him and have him become one of her slaves. That seemed to send what looked like a hint of anger (maybe hurt?) through her eyes. (Did he hit the nail on the head or was she offended he thought of her that way?)

As Choi Yoo Jin focused on why Kim Je Ha’s gone against her and allowing him to express it all, the JSS President goes and switches sides to work with Choi Sung Won (who’s gone and convinced Park Kwan Soo switch his alliance to him instead of the Jin Han Group Chairman). In his opinion, Choi Yoo Jin’s gone completely mad, that she’s way too crazy about him. He thinks that if Kim Je Ha was someone else, she would definitely use any means to get him to tell her where that memory card is (as opposed to listening to him berate her about her ways). He says this just before asking Chief Joo (who the JSS President voiced all of the above to) whether he was going to stay here (i.e. continue serving Choi Yoo Jin) when his dream of being a cool security guard serving the president and his family at the Blue House is looking more like a pipeline dream now.

This alarms Chief Joo, and the JSS President is told to calm down, and to hold off doing anything so drastic as to jump ship. Chief Joo doesn’t say this exactly like that, but his worried frown and suggestion to talk more after he returns from a job at Jang Se Joon’s event hints exactly that. The JSS President agrees, but it‘s only to brush him off, because the next thing we see is the JSS President helping Choi Sung Won break through JSS security with Park Kwan Soo’s men, before giving Choi Sung Won access to Cloud Nine.

Thoughts

This episode was a bit slower than previous episodes, but the last 15 minutes got so good! We had hoped Kim Je Ha wouldn’t go against Choi Yoo Jin, but it was actually very good drama, especially how it showed that Choi Yoo Jin really gives Kim Je Ha A LOT of slack.

The JSS President kind of suggested she had a crush on Kim Je Ha by asking Chief Joo rhetorically, “How could you be so ignorant about romantic things?” He says this right after saying how he thought Choi Yoo Jin was too crazy about Kim Je Ha. Sometimes, Choi Yoo Jin does come off as having a bit of a crush on Kim Je Ha. In this episode, when Ko Anna went to Cloud Nine to see the unconscious Kim Je Ha and she kissed him in front of Choi Yoo Jin, Choi Yoo Jin held her gaze for a bit, but eventually turned away with this unhappy look on her face. It could be just us, but we swear she looked a little bit envious if not jealous.

We can’t wait to see the whole story behind Choi Yoo Jin and see the whole truth. We’re hoping the drama somehow turns her around and makes her a person who’s been misunderstood. She better be a Raniya who was a victim of wrongdoers and not a Park Kwan Soo who killed anyone who got in the way of getting what he wants.

Right now, though, this betrayal by the JSS President is looking very interesting. The whole reason Choi Sung Won’s made his move to enter Cloud Nine now is, firstly, he’s got someone on the inside to break through security, but it’s also the perfect timing. Possibly through information from the JSS President, he knows Kim Je Ha is down. Though he’s since woken, Choi Sung Won’s counting on Kim Je Ha not lasting long since he’s badly injured. We’re a bit worried Choi Sung Won’s right, but with Choi Yoo Jin there with Kim Je Ha, what will she do? Will she protect him somehow? Also, if the situation requires Kim Je Ha to protect Choi Yoo Jin, will Kim Je Ha protect her or will he side with Choi Sung Won? Surely, he won’t, because that’s siding with Park Kwan Soo, and we can’t imagine that happening.
