Chu Jin and Wanyue take over from Song Shilan and Song Wenchang in looking after the civilians, treating the wounds and bandaging them up. The task had Chu Jin see the suffering and hardship these common people endure during wartime. It had her reflect on herself. While she was upset over not getting fine jewels, the common people worried about surviving another day.

Wanyue had taught her to climb walls and windows, make a fire, bandage wounds, and treat injuries. Common people worried about how they could survive to see another day while she got upset over not getting fine jewels.

Being in Qingzhou, seeing common people with their struggles has inspired Chu Jin to try her best to help more people and consider starting a pharmacy when she returned to Huajing.

At Hot Spring Villa, Lu Qiba has discovered the entrance to the underground workshop containing all the octagonal crossbows. It was located under the kitchen stove, which can be assessed through a zip line.

As Lu Qiba works on getting in there, Chu Yu is chained up in a dark room and uses her to blackmail Li Changming into agreeing to attend Zhao Yue’s blessing ceremony. He purposely brought Li Changming in to watch Chu Yu being whipped. He knew Li Changming liked Chu Yu, but he seemed surprised she’d beg him with tears in her eyes for him to stop before agreeing to accompany him at the blessing ceremony.

He instructs his people to escort Li Changming back to her room before moving to let Chu Yu know Wei Yun has joined his family in the underworld after he failed to assassinate Su Can. He let the token and hair ornament fall to the ground before laughing at the pain Chu Yu was showing upon hearing the news. She started at Wei Yun’s belongings, eyes wide with tears, as she couldn’t believe he had died.

After Zhao Yue left, promising he’d have mercy on her and send her to the underworld to join him with dignity, Chu Yu forces her pain down and uses it to make a promise to fulfil her mission.

As Su Can leads his troops to subdue Qingzhou with plans to go after Huajing, Wei Yun and his men ambush the North Qi king. Wei Yun was not dead. It was all part of his plan to make it look like he had been killed so he could lure Su Can out and assassinate him.

Wei Yun makes his appearance thrusting a spear into a North Qi soldier before running straight for Su Can. Wei Yun makes his identity known in the clash that Su Can managed to block.

Su Can and Wei Yun appear well-matched in skill, each striking and blocking with strength, accuracy and agility. However, each time they faced each other, it was Wei Yun who showed greater power. The first round saw Su Can’s sword hold up against Wei Yun’s spear and even push Wei Yun backwards. But with one kick from Wei Yun, Su Can was sent flying back into Great Sui soldiers. Their second clash saw them both block and attack, each taking a slash to the arm, but that powerful leg of Wei Yun, once again, sends Su Can flying towards the ground and spitting out blood.

Su Can’s power was actually no match for Wei Yun. Still, Su Can refused to admit defeat and had lifted up his sword to swing it only to be stabbed by Wei Yun’s spear. With the North Qi king down on the ground, sword in mid-air, he left his chest fully open for attack.

Wei Yun moves to behead Su Can before loudly declares that the king of North Qi had been killed and for everyone to spread the word. Enemy soldiers fle.

Wei Qiu is told to spread the news in Qingzhou while Gongsun Lan is to return to Eldest Princess Yunyang and pretend he knew nothing about Wei Yun’s trick of faking his death and claim that he had been fooled by him.

Despite having just fought a fierce battle, exhausting his strength, Wei Yun makes the decision to rush to Fengling. Qingzhou is expected to be fine once Wei Qiu makes it there with the news. Fengling, though, there haven’t been any updates about its situation, so he needed to go there to support the fight and keep North Qi from gaining control of it. Losing the city would allow North Qi to drive straight to Huajing, which would put Great Sui in great danger.

In Qingzhou, Gu Chusheng’s holding on. Chained up, he endures Commander Gao’s belittling. He gets hit in the head for glaring back and is ordered to fetch wine for his capture of Qingzhou.

He’s the only one so confident. Shen You is more reserved. He seems to suspect the situation is not all it seems with Gu Chusheng. The whole time, he stayed silent and had this expression of looking down on Commander Gao for celebrating so quickly.

Gu Chusheng returns from the storage room. With him are also Song Wenchang and Song Shilan. The two brothers had made it back into the city with their soldiers. They had thought about leaving with Gu Chusheng, but Gu Chusheng had wanted to reclaim Qingzhou with their lives and wanted to know if Song Wenchang and Song Shilan were willing to take a gamble with him.

Wei Yun had gone to North Qi to kill Su Can. He said he would need four days to do it. Gu Chusheng looks to be holding onto these words of Wei Yun’s. If Wei Yun succeeded, then at any moment now, he should receive news about Su Can’s assassination. He, Song Wenchang, and Song Shilan, and their soldiers just need to take down as many enemy soldiers and hold out until this report comes through.

Song Wenchang and Song Shilan agree, initiating a surprise attack on Commander Gao and his men. Whilst Commander Gao was taken by surprise, Shen You wasn’t. He didn’t join the fight and snuck away instead.

Not long after, Wei Qiu makes it into Qingzhou. Carrying Su Can’s sword, he announces that Wei Yun had killed the king of North Qi. The enemy soldiers at the gate see Su Can’s sword and immediately retreat. With North Qi troops all running away, overtaken by Great Sui’s, Commander Gao is captured and killed by Gu Chusheng.

Zhao Yue holds his blessing ceremony for the North Qi soldiers he calls heroes, forcing Li Changming and Chu Yu to honour soldiers who killed so many of their own. It gets Chu Yu a kick to the back of her legs when she refutes, calling them “bandits, killers, and demons”.

The ceremony only gets as far as drinking a cup of water containing drops of blood from Zhao Yue, Li Changming, and Chu Yu before the ground shakes violently. It was Lu Qiba and his men successfully blowing up the underground workshop, destroying all the octagonal crossbows in there.

Li Changming takes this opportunity to thrust a dagger into Zhao Yue’s chest and tells Chu Yu to run. Chu Yu hesitates, worried about leaving Li Changming on her own, but after some urging to save Fengling and an assurance from Li Changming that she’ll be fine, Chu Yu makes her escape.

Zhao Yue is furious. So much so, he pushes Li Changming away and gets angry enough to grip her by the neck when she gets back on her feet. He threatens her with death, telling her that deception is also something he hates most. It leads Li Changming to call him a traitor and someone she will never collude with even if he kills her for not going along with his plans.

Zhao Yue rejects the label and questions the legitimacy of her family being on the throne. To him, as the son of the Lord of Qin, he should in fact own part of Great Sui and should be his. Li Changming tells him to keep dreaming. Lord of Qin committed treason, and there was no chance he could ever inherit the throne.

(Just a recap on this: In Episodes 9 and 10, the ruling handed down for the Lord of Qin case is that the Lord of Qin colluded with North Qi, and he had committed treason, but when digging into case files, Gu Chusheng believed the Lord of Qin was framed by Princess Yunyang, and all this was part of a long, protracted plan to annexe Great Sui.)

Amidst all this, Zhao Yue receives news that Su Can has been killed, the workshop has been destroyed and the place has been discovered. He’s urged to leave Hot Spring Villa, as the Great Sui army was on the way after having discovered the place.

From behind, from the side and in front, Zhao Yue’s men came at Chu Yu. She was having trouble fighting them off after suffering all those lashings in the dark room. She managed to free herself from the shackles around her wrist (thanks to Li Changming, who had secretly given her the key during the blessing ceremony). She evaded, stabbed, and managed to kick away half a dozen men. But there were just too many after her.

Down on the ground, three men threatened to end her, but fortunately Wei Yun had shown up at Hot Spring Villa and took them all down. Chu Yu is carried away just as the building behind blows up.
