After Xia Qiao kisses Bai Hao Yu\u2014a kiss which Bai Hao Yu doesn’t return\u2014Xia Qiao makes her next brave move and asks that she and he date. Just like with the kiss, Bai Hao Yu doesn’t respond.<\/p>\n

Without warning, Bai Hao Yu suddenly has this thought of going to the wall Li Hui Zhen had visited earlier in the day. It\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess what prompted the thought\u2014maybe he\u2019s subconsciously seeing if Xia Qiao could remember or Bai Hao Yu just can’t help bringing up the past despite having promised Xia Qiao he\u2019d stop.<\/p>\n
At the wall, he has her look for the drawings with him\u2014drawings which Xia Qiao obviously has no clue about. Fortunately for her, she isn’t caught out by the visit. The fresh touch-up of colour Li Hui Zhen applied earlier saves Xia Qiao from needing to pretend to know what Bai Hao Yu’s talking about again. It also seems to have helped Bai Hao Yu accept Xia Qiao’s suggestion to date as the sight of it has him pull her into a hug.<\/p>\n
Bai Hao Yu:<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you, Hui Zhen, for watching over our promise this whole time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Xia Qiao:<\/p>\n
\u201cHao Yu, can you promise me something?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s not keep mentioning the past, okay?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
At Xia Qiao’s request, he promises her for the second time that he will never mention the past. He will fulfill this promise with her and not leave her alone again. The latter part of his promise is easier said than to keep as Bai Hao Yu is later seen dating Xia Qiao, but his mind and heart continues to be on Li Hui Zhen (as we will see later in the episode).<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nMeanwhile, Lin Yi Mu\u2019s off running around looking for Xia Qiao, and later, Bai Hao Yu. As he was up on the walk bridge promising Li Hui Zhen to never pull another prank on her in light of the one he pulled with his sister being the name of his dog, he saw the whole kiss between Xia Qiao and Bai Hao Yu below.<\/p>\n
The discovery and realisation that the man Xia Qiao liked was Bai Hao Yu, and the best friend she was talking afraid to hurt was Li Hui Zhen, has Lin Yi Mu off searching for Xia Qiao to retract his advice. He\u2019s unable to track her down after sending an oblivious Li Hui Zhen home, so he heads over to Bai Hao Yu to try and have him get a clue and not rush into dating Xia Qiao:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cHow long has it been since you returned to China? Do you understand your girlfriend? Why are you in such a rush to date?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Bai Hao Yu\u2019s not interested in listening, clearly thinking Lin Yi Mu is talking nonsense again and threatens to call security. But then, Lin Yi Mu starts to talk about the same thing his friend Eric has been telling him:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this world, you can’t use your eyes to look. You must use your heart. Follow your heart, understand?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Lin Yi Mu has Bai Hao Yu\u2019s attention now as a curious frown take over his expression. Lin Yi Mu continues to hold Bai Hao Yu\u2019s attention as Lin Yi Mu talk about Bai Hao Yu being the main offender (in this complicated situation between him, Xia Qiao and Li Hui Zhen). But he\u2019s also considered an innocent party with how he\u2019s completely oblivious to the truth of the situation.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nLin Yi Mu then gets up to take his leave. He hasn’t really thought through what he wants to do with the situation, yet: he hasn’t figured out whether it\u2019s his place to mention anything. For the time being, he seems only concerned with getting Bai Hao Yu not to rush into dating Xia Qiao and hopefully pick up the clues to the situation he\u2019s in with his words:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cDon’t be in such a rush to date. You aren\u2019t even sure of surname yet. What confidence do you have to whisper sweet nothings to each other?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nThe one Lin Yi Mu initially wanted to track down, but couldn’t is seen sitting on the swings with Li Hui Zhen. The late return seems to have Li Hui Zhen all excited for Xia Qiao as the former thinks the latter has gotten herself a boyfriend.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Li Hui Zhen:<\/p>\n
\u201cYou’re clearly such a good person. How could you lose faith in love? Love is the most beautiful thing in the world. You haven\u2019t even tried it out, how could you be disappointed by it already?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Li Hui Zhen\u2019s been really worried about Xia Qiao because of Xia Qiao\u2019s past views about love and receiving love. It hurt Li Hui Zhen to hear Xia Qiao see men as people she\u2019ll play with since that\u2019s what they\u2019re looking to do with her. She didn’t believe in true love: how could any men love her when her own family doesn’t, Li Hui Zhen remembers Xia Qiao saying. Before meeting Bai Hao Yu, Xia Qiao only saw men as people who wanted to play.<\/p>\n
Li Hui Zhen:<\/p>\n
\u201cMy birthday wish for Qiao-er last year was that she find someone Qiao-er truly likes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor my birthday this year, I have to go to that cake shop and buy that cake to make an even bigger wish. I\u2019m going to wish Qiao-er get married. What do you think? For my birthday wish I\u2019m going to wish for Qiao-er to get married and quickly have a nice chubby baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
But with Xia Qiao dating, it has Li Hui Zhen all excited about the prospects of a long term relationship\u2014one which Li Hui Zhen fantasises as getting as far as marriage and starting family. With Xia Qiao only giving general details when Li Hui Zhen asks what kind of man he is\u2014tall, handsome, smart\u2014Li Hui Zhen gushes about how she and this guy would make a poster-worthy, perfect couple. She suggests that only such guys is worthy of such a good and beautiful person such as Xia Qiao.<\/p>\n
Though Li Hui Zhen hasn’t seen the guy Xia Qiao’s dating, she is not only happy for Xia Qiao, but she gives her full support as well. Not knowing this guy is Bai Hao Yu, Li Hui Zhen tells Xia Qiao she trusts her choice in guys and will be cheering her on. This response comes after Li Hui Zhen seems to mistaken Xia Qiao\u2019s question about loving someone she shouldn’t as relating to character flaw just like Lin Yi Mu had when he heard her mention this same line.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nLi Hui Zhen:<\/p>\n
\u201cHello, I\u2019m Xiao Qiao’s friend! Let’s have a meal together one day!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The hiding of things from and lying to Li Hui Zhen is starting to take a toll on Xia Qiao. Li Hui Zhen puts Xia Qiao in quite a bit of anxiety the next morning when she decides to try introduce herself to her boyfriend (i.e. Bai Hao Yu) through Xia Qiao\u2019s call with him. Catching Xia Qiao in her room speaking to him, Li Hui Zhen put Xia Qiao in serious danger of being exposed to Bai Hao Yu. If Li Hui Zhen\u2019s voice itself wasn’t enough, her shouts that she was Xia Qiao\u2019s friend and roommate threatened Xia Qiao\u2019s identity. Fortunately for Xia Qiao, Bai Hao Yu seemed to have hung up after hearing the commotion but hadn’t picked up anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nLin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cI am taking all of them back now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cForget all of them. You must not listen to any of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It\u2019s keep going and carry on with the act, though. Lin Yi Mu finally sees Xia Qiao after running into her outside his workplace. Lin Yi Mu retracts all of his advice he\u2019s ever given her, which has Xia Qiao wonder why he\u2019d do that since she thinks it’s pretty good advice.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a case of hear what you want to hear, see what you want to see and shut out the rest we think. Xia Qiao never really wanted to give up. She didn’t accept the first two outcomes of the bet she made with herself about giving up Bai Hao Yu. Now Lin Yi Mu\u2019s saying something against what she wants and she’s not really interested in hearing why he\u2019s taking everything back.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nLin Yi Mu\u2019s words seems to have gone on deaf ears with Bai Hao Yu, too. He\u2019s again chosen Xia Qiao over Li Hui Zhen after seemingly believing Xia Qiao had coloured their wall drawing. He may have chosen Xia Qiao, but his continued gazes of jealousy whenever he sees Li Hui Zhen with Lin Yi Mu suggests he actually really wants Li Hui Zhen.<\/p>\n
A late night task which Han Xue has Li Hui Zhen return some props sees Lin Yi Mu and Li Hui Zhen sliding out of the building back to back. Bai Hao Yu catches this scene between them whilst heading out of the building, apparently on his way out to meet Xia Qiao for a movie. (Suspiciously, this movie date ended up cancelled. It\u2019s not clear if there’s a link between what he saw leaving the office and him canceling the movie date, but we can’t help that there might be!)<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nTo explain how the situation developed into Lin Yi Mu and Li Hui Zhen sliding out of the building back to back, it came from Li Hui Zhen\u2019s insistence on wearing shoes which had split from its soles. Whilst making her way to returning the props, one of her soles come unstuck again after having applied glue to it earlier. This has Lin Yi Mu offer Li Hui Zhen a piggy-back ride. Li Hui Zhen doesn’t want that. She instead suggest he offer her one of his shoelaces so she can use it to bound her shoe and sole together. Lin Yi Mu thinks the method to be a waste of time, but he does it. He bends down to start untying his shoe lace and that\u2019s when a loud rip sounds.<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu had split his pants! He begged her to allow him to piggy-back her to cover his now visible black underwear, but she wasn’t for that. She instead suggests the sliding back to back method. And that\u2019s how it all came about.<\/p>\n
There was actually an even better way to hide Lin Yi Mu\u2019s ripped pants. He could have taken off that shirt he was wearing and tied it around his waist, but that would be boring and we wouldn’t have a scene attention-grabbing enough to have Bai Hao Yu watch from a distance at the two with a frown.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nLi Hui Zhen:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is your express delivery. And then, this is soya-bean milk, youtiao, and the egg cake you love and also a sandwich.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bai Hao Yu:<\/p>\n
\u201cNo need. I don’t have the habit of eating breakfast.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It\u2019s also back to the cold, distant treatment of Li Hui Zhen. The following morning, Li Hui Zhen heads into Bai Hao Yu\u2019s office to personally bring Bai Hao Yu some breakfast only to be rejected. Now he\u2019s gone back to Xia Qiao again, he doesn’t want her food anymore.<\/p>\n
She ends up handing the bag of food to Lin Yi Mu. Lin Yi Mu had come in shortly after Li Hui Zhen was rejected, looking to grab a signature from Bai Hao Yu. We wouldn’t be surprised if Lin Yi Mu had come to her rescue after watching the scene outside. He could be seen running into Bai Hao Yu\u2019s office in the background.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nBai Hao Yu’s latest treatment of Li Hui Zhen has Lin Yi Mu worried about her and her decision to reveal her identity to him:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cHe only didn’t eat your breakfast and you’re already this sad. The whole day you were lost in thought. What if one day you confessed to him and he won\u2019t accept you, what are you going to do?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Her latest encounter with Bai Hao Yu looks like it may have gotten her down quite a bit. For one, she actually let Lin Yi Mu take the breakfast without any kind of remark about him looking to score a free meal. She also willingly took a jellybean from his little container of good and dud jellybeans. After taking one, she even asked for the whole container. Regardless of what happens between now and the time she finally tells Bai Hao Yu, though, Li Hui Zhen still has faith that Bai Hao Yu would be so heartless as to not accept her.<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu fears the worst, though, and has been making sure Li Hui Zhen knows that she has him if it all doesn’t turns against what she hopes:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cLi Hui Zhen, remember: I will always be your way out. If you’re sad or when you feel wronged, you must tell me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
He\u2019s also gone and made a recording in his phone granting Li Hui Zhen:<\/p>\n
Lin Yi Mu:<\/p>\n
\u201cI, Lin Yimu, is agreeing to grant Li Hui Zhen three unconditional requests.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
This recording was made the night before when he accompanied her to the prop room and Li Hui Zhen was heard placing so much trust in her relationship with Xia Qiao, saying how good she is and thinking there was no way she\u2019d betray her. Recording his agreement to grant her three requests looks to be Lin Yi Mu\u2019s way of preparing for the time Li Hui Zhen finds out that her friendship may not be as honest as she thinks and (we\u2019re guessing) he\u2019s going to have her use the requests to allow him to comfort her.<\/p>\n
